Agence France – Presse: Church files suggest Pope Benedict XVI had failed to take action against a US priest accused of molesting up to 200 deaf boys

Fresh pedophilia cover-up claims hit Pope Benedict XVI late Wednesday as church files suggested he had failed to take action against a US priest accused of molesting up to 200 deaf boys. The documents obtained by The New York Times include correspondence between the accused priest, who worked at a school for deaf children in the US state of Wisconsin, and the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in 1996. Since they didn't like leaving her side, it was all the more reason for me to say, "See, if I take them, they'll just cry, so you keep them." I'd let her feed the kids most of the time, and I would pretty much take them when it looked as though my wife were about to have a nervous breakdown. Read More »

Just watch for the next couple of days and tell me what you think.” Read More »

The Doha Debates: An Insider’s Perspective (Yasir Qadhi, Asra Nomani & Women’s Freedom to Marry)

Four months ago, while attending the Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow (MLT) conference in Doha, some of us were invited to be part of the audience of the Doha Debates. Little did I know back then that I would be back in the same hall, only this time I would be sitting on the platform rather than in the audience! Last week, the producers of the program contacted me, asking if I would be willing to appear on the Debates as a speaker. The motion was ‘This house believes that Muslim women should be free to marry anyone they choose’, and I was invited to be a speaker on the opposition… More problematic than the logistics of travel was the motion itself. Any time a male opposes a motion with the three words, ‘Muslim’, ‘women’ and ‘freedom’ in them, he is simply asking for trouble. Read More »
