AlMaghrib Institute, the largest Islamic institute in North America, is stepping up to the plate with an online fundraiser with Islamic Relief. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi will be joined by Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef and the founder of Islamic Relief, Dr. Hany El Banna in this unique event to help our suffering and dying caged brethren in Gaza.

As the world watches the grave events unfolding in the Gaza Strip, history is awaiting to document the actions humanity is about to take:

Shameful Inaction or Heroic Justice?

It is human nature to feel all kinds of intense emotions towards the atrocities in Gaza: anger, sorrow, shame, fear, sadness….yet history is filled with stories of these very emotions resulting in dangerously wrong courses of action. It is evident, then, that these natural feelings act as fog: blurring our hindsight and preventing us from seeing the big picture.

The question then is: in these trying times, how do we use hikmah (wisdom) instead of emotion when taking the right course of action for our Ummah?

Join us for a special Ilminar as we answer this very question and in co-operation with Islamic Relief launch a unique ONLINE fundraising effort for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Be among those whom history documents as partakers of heroic justice, and above all, those who embodied the true message of Islam.

    Aslamu-alaikum:
What a GREAT IDEA by AL-MAGHRIB.
I bet no other university has linked with a non-profit Organization to help with the RELIEF EFFORTS of GAZA.
Now for those people that were critisizing the Shaykh and Al-Maghrib need to STEP UP TO THE PLATE and DONATE money………………..
lets NOT EMULATE the QUALITIES of the BANI-ISRAEL and LISTEN TO THE LECTURE and share our MONEY…………….
I can’t for TUESDAY. I listened to Al-Shareef’s last ilminar on Surah Baqarah and it was very nice MashAllah.
He explains things like my uncle and aunt the alima.
anyway i have to go now i could only come for a little while since today i am at home.
Tomorrow i will be at college and will have more time to converse with you guys. InshAllah.
    salam

Alhumdulillah, Durbah (AlMaghrib NJ) did a weekend-long fundraiser this past weekend at their class “Precious Provisions: Fiqh of Food and Clothing” taught by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. Our goal was $20,000 for Gaza, and Alhumdulillah, the students were able to raise more than $25,000, plus another $7,000 from Tayybah (AlMaghrib NY)! All donations will be given to Islamic Relief.

Jazakumullahu Khairan to everyone who participated in Durbah’s largest humanitarian effort to date!

that’s awesome mashallah… actually beyond awesome, its quite amazing that a group of 300-odd students could raise nearly $25k. That speaks for what this Ummah is capable of, if it puts its heart into it.

jazakAllahkhair for sharing this good news.

    maa shaa’ Allaah…that’s amazing…
May Allaah accept from all our brothers and sisters in Durbah, Tayybah and all over the world. Ameen.

The next step – if not the FIRST step – is for all of us to look at our actions and evaluate them…and repent to Allaah. A sister told me that a fundraiser was held at their local masjid, and although everyone was so enthusiastic about helping with money…very few showed, at least outwardly, the desire and resolve to become better Muslims and better examples (for example: lowering the gaze, wearing the hijaab correctly, etc.) – of course only Allaah knows what’s in the heart, but it is important that the outside reflects the good that’s inside.

It is said that Salaah ad-Deen al-Ayyoobee was making rounds to all the tents of the soldiers at night, and he would pass by tents wherein he’d hear sounds of people praying, and other tents from which eminates the recitation of the Qur’aan, and yet others from which thikr can be heard…until he passed by a tent from which he heard nothing, and he said something to the effect of “It is from here that defeat will come to us.”

May Allaah not make ME or any of us the reason for the defeat of this Ummah. Ameen.

Do you think it might be possible for these ilminars to be released as podcasts or something?

I’m sure some people would love to listen but for one reason or another have varying time conflicts.

Would Al-Maghrib allows someone from MM to record them and post them on the blog, at least?
