   The Islamic Center of Folsom in Folsom City, California is a highly respected institution of not only Folsom but also many surrounding Cities. It is known, among other things, for its awesome hifz program. However the city of Folsom, despite formal protests from the Muslim residents, has gone ahead to build a Dog Hotel right in front of the center. Everytime I think of this I get incensed. I wonder why the city, any city, would do this as intentionally as Folsom…..

   I work at a CAIR office now and it made me realize something…

   Your avg Muslim doesn’t know their city or the people inside it (Muslims & Non-Muslims)

   Everybody should join a “club” or “social group” or whatever else they call them joints to know the people around them, and so especially they can know you!

   this is all coming from a meeting I had with my representative’s office…that situation was a new/weird experience for me

   …she asked me why I didn’t shake her hand.

   Now she knows!

   I feel like this is a throwback Public Service Anouncement…

   There is going to be a Bail Hearing for Saad Gaya one of the brothers who was arrested. Sisters and Brothers in the Toronto Area NEED TO SHOW UP TO THIS! If the judge sees strong community support they will cite this as a reason for his release. If Brother Saad is not released this time, he will not be coming out of jail until 2014!!

   How you can help:

   1) Show up at the court. This could be for one hour, two hours or three hours. Please contact us (see below) and let us know when you can come. You can also confirm on facebook event whether you are coming or not and we will then contact you.

   This week, a Muslim family in Ottawa lost their home in a fire. There were 7 children in the family, and as the mother tried to round them up to escape, the youngest, Khalid Ali, got confused and ran in the opposite direction. Baby Khalid did not make it out of the fire, he was 2 and a half years old. The father was at work, and checked in on his family that evening before the fire. This family has nothing left. They escaped with the clothing on their backs. Please donate anything you can for this family. The mother is in shock and is not able to speak or respond when spoken to. The father is trying to be strong for his 6 children.”

    Hey, a dog’s gotta stay where a dog’s gotta stay!

    I’m curious as to how this actually has any affect on the Muslims at the centre. They’ll have to see more dogs? Is it really that much of an issue?
