Charity Week 2009: Raising Money for Orphans Worldwide

Those of you who attend university in the UK may already be familiar with the term “Charity Week“. For the rest of you non-student types, here’s a brief explanation:

Charity Week is a grass-roots projects started in 2004 by a small team of London University students. Organized by the University of London Union Islamic Society (ULU ISoc) and in partnership with Islamic Relief, it remains one of the most successful and powerful projects ULU ISoc organizes to date. The initial aim was to raise awareness amongst the youth and communities about the tragic state of orphans around the world.

Countless Universities take part in Charity Week all over Britain, and over 5 years have raised a magnificent total of £931,000! 100% has been donated to Islamic Relief’s Orphans Campaign with ZERO admin fees. Therefore every penny is delivered directly to orphans and, amongst many things, is what makes Charity Week so special and loved across the nation!

Charity Week began on Monday 19th October, and as you can see from the following video, my own Islamic Society, Imperial College ISoc, has been busy trying to raise cash for this worthy cause from Day 1 – even donning cartoon costumes to appeal to their fellow students!

  Or instead of giving to the london guys (who have raised loads already alhamdullillah) why not help out your welsh brothers and sisters! Im sure london can handle some competition bearing in mind there are like a gazillion more people there than here in little old wales!

Okay, Sr. iMuslim, to honor ur word, I’ll donate 50 quids… BUT in addition, I’ll match the next 100, i.e. I’ll donate another 100 for whoever donates the next 100… btw “quids”…. is that how you say it in England or am I totally messing it up??

I have to say that I’m not sure if people, especially in the States, could gage from the above video links the extent of money raised by the kids at Universities in that one week (usually four days) up and down the UK. What type of stuff they go through, the hours, mashallah – and to add to that, the type of brotherhood and sisterhood they they get out of it.

Athough you’ll get the figures of how much was raised in the various years by the first few seconds of the video clip, it’s only after 3:25 that you see the activities. In between is also of great value!

During the years I was working on the issue of as will solve a problem of orphans. The purpose of my research of last years was the ways of the assistance achievement for those who do feel aloof from parentâ€™s assistance. My research has shown that, Orphans our children because, at them do not have parents. Avoidance of the orphan starvation, to give them qualified medical care, education and sweet home for them; it is a main objective of our organization. I am confident, itâ€™s vital to lend a helping hand to a human-being initially, if he is in trouble and do the utmost to help him to become independent earn for his life without others aid. My research has shown that many people on the earth do have the desire to support others, but sometimes donâ€™t know in what way to do it. Our Non-Governmental Organization â€œSave The Future Generationâ€ works on above-mentioned issue. It helps people to discover each other, to exchange with experience and learn from each other how to overcome the difficulties problem for orphans.
