Many people are ignorant of the history of the Palestinian – Israeli conflict – what books are recommended reading to get a proper grounding in understanding it with the proper perspective?

If we really like him and want the best for him, we want him to understand the truth about Allah and his relationship to Him, ie, to submit to Allah without any partners, ie, to become Muslim.
So if the exact question IbnAbbas asked has been asked over and over again — and it’s a good Q, straight outta 10-Minute-Shahadah :) — then try this variation: “If you were to accept Islam today, what would be the most significant change in your life?”
If his answer is positive, that’s a good step. If his answer is negative, that might be (part of) the answer to the question IbnAbbas posed.
And how he receives the question will depend on the sincerity of it when it is asked, so have the best niyat which is to save him from hellfire. MashaAllah, he already seems to be working on causes that benefit Muslims in need (eg, Palestine), so seeking his conversion for that result… well, it seems counter-intuitive. The example that most reminds me of Galloway is of those Quraysh who resisted the boycott of Banu Muttalib. They were mushriks, and if they had been Muslims, they would have been powerless to do anything about the boycott.
To sum up: if your niyat is to help George — wish for him to come to Islam.
If your niyat is to help Palestine, ask yourself if he is a stronger ally where he is. And, if you do not know the answer to that question… ask him.
And Allah’s Knowledge is Complete and His Plan is without flaw or weakness.

Guys, let’s avoid the: “Are you Muslim?” question. He’s been asked many times before, and clearly wants to keep such info personal.
Anything else?

Is there any realistic and viable solution that will bring peace to the Palestinians or do we have to wait for a couple more thousand Palestinians to die before the fighting stops?
And, do you believe boycotting businesses that support Israel works? Do you boycott any companies?

What could possibly open this situation in order to move toward peace? Or should we wait again another war from Israel to see UN or the quartet showing some action?

As a long-standing PM in the british parliament, have you ever felt influenced by public dissent expressed through demonstrations? Over the years I’ve attended marches, rallies, and picketed for various causes, but have come to question the utility of them. Also, would we be better off strengthening our lobby through PACs and lobbyists regarding policies we disagree with (ie the palestinian conflict), rather than focusing our energy on public displays of discontent?

Can it even be called fair for Palestinians to be given the amount of land granted in the 1967 aggeement, if even a “two-state solution were to be forged”?
How much of a threat is it to the “special relatonship” between the US and Israel now that the Obama administration is begining to use tougher rhetoric on the two-state solution plan?
Could a two-state solution ever be fair to the Palestinians?

How probable is it that Israel may take nuclear action against Iran itself, without the backing of the US?
Sorry for asking too many questions MM!

Yeah..avoid the convert questions…as far as I’m concerned we set a bad example for him to consider becoming like us. Use your hikmah!
I would ask:
1) What drives you in your struggle? We’re Muslims so we have ample reason to support the Palestinians…but what drives you? Perhaps there is something you can teach us…
2) What is your prediction of the future of the UK, the West and the Middle East?
3) In your encounters and dealings with Muslims and minorities…is there anything you feel we should do? Something we are doing wrong needing re-thinking?
4) Do you secretly work for the illuminati…and are just buying the trust of Muslims to simply quell our inferiority complex and delude us?! Just kidding with that question…lol…but seriously !

I admire everything that he has done for wronged people all over the world, and thank him for the help and support he has always given to muslims even though its made him into a target for attack many many times. George is truly one in a million.

“Yeah..avoid the convert questions…as far as I’m concerned we set a bad example for him to consider becoming like us. Use your hikmah! ”
Brother Dawud, with all due respect, this is your own opinion, and I am entitled to my own opinion. Besides, it is the sunnah of the prophet peace be upon him to offer islam to people and not leave things up in the air, like when he went to visit the sick Jewish boy who was on his death bed, and so he commanded him to accept islam and he did. Maybe that is why we aren’t as good of muslims as we should be, because we aren’t spreading the message and giving dawah to others like we should be. You never know, many times people want to become muslim but no one has ever offered or asked them.
Allah knows best.

Contrary to the common conception of our Nabi salallahu alayhi wasalam, he didn’t go and make dawah to every single person…all the time. There is a time for dawah and this requires hikmah…and I’m sure this suggestion has already passed through iMuslim’s mind, and if anything…its meant to be asked in private, not in a public discourse. If in public I get the feeling Muslims who are watching want feel some sort of “validation” to their belief in seeing a kaafir convert.
Abd- Allah

Maybe some people would like to see a kaafir convert so that they can feel good about themselves, but that is not the norm. Can you please provide an instance when the prophet peace be upon him met someone whom he didn’t convey the message to ?
” There is a time for dawah and this requires hikmah”
our prophet used to do both at the same time! give dawah with hikma. they are not seperate akhi.
