SubhanAllah. I think that, similar to the way many people associate certain songs with different times in their lives, many Muslims have certain qaris or even specific recitations that evoke certain memories.
My youth and for the period of my “awakening,” I heard the Quran almost exclusively through the voice of Ahmed al Ajami. When I was in Egypt for two months, my qari of choice was Abu Bakr Ash Shatery (which is ironic, because Ajami is always on constant play through the Cairo streets).

Shaykh Hosary is my fav, hands down, rahimahullah. When you know even a little bit of tajweed, you can really appreciate his recitations and how amazing they are. There are some of his audios where he’ll change up his voice just a bit and they sound incredible..like this. My all time favorite recitation of his rahimahullah is Suratun Najm in warsh.
–Imam Hudaify hafidhahullah. Every year my family and I watch taraweeh together, and I love it when it’s his day to lead. Like many others, I memorized with his tapes when I was younger and whenever I hear him..it’s like, hey i know him! lol. (maybe that’s just me)
–Ali Jaber rahimahullah
–Tawfeeq as-Sayegh
–Old school Mishary, and this one ..he sounds different now.
–Hani Rifai and Salah Budair, I like listening to them both because you can tell they understand and feel the ayat when they recite.
recently discovered Faisal al-Rashood and Shaykh Dimashqiah.
may Allah make us from those who listen to the Qur’an with full attention.

Asalamu Alikum
One of my favorite is Shaykh Saleh Al-Sahud. MashaAllah tabarakaAllah, he has both the voice and excellent tajweed.
This is his recorded recitation (outside prayer):

But his voice during taraweeh prayers live is best, like this recitation of surat al-Balad: http://www.wathakker.net/wonderful_telawat/view.php?id=121

When the Prophet peace be upon him was asked which person has the best voice when reciting the Quran, he said that the person who has the best voice when reciting the Quran is the one whom when you hear reciting the Quran you feel that he is fearful of Allah.

Salam aleikom,
I’ve listened to a lot of recitation by Shaykh Al Sudais, i find it easy to follow his recitation. Also, my family would always watch taraweeh prayer from Saudi during Ramadan and he used to perform many taraweeh prayers so i got used to hearing his voice and way of reciting.
Al Ghamdi is another favorite, mashAllah his voice is beautiful! when it comes to tajweed, Al Hosary and Abdul Basit are two of the absolute best to learn from.
May Allah reward them all for their beautiful reciting.
