MSA West Conference: University of California – Riverside – April 10-12th – “Change, that’s real”

Do you feel pain when you see our sisters and brothers suffering in Palestine, in Bosnia, in Sudan, in Iraq? Do you feel as if marching in protests and writing letters to the editor is not enough? You’re right.

In the Qur’an, our Creator says,

“Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change themselves.” (Al Ra`d: 11)

“The focus of this year’s conference pertains to improving the inner self or the Nafs. With this in mind, we hope to provide life changing lessons that will encourage personal development and spiritual maturation. The conference will provide a comprehensive and cohesive approach to living a happy and fulfilling life within the frameworks of Islam. We hope to promote the importance of being a well balanced and effective individual which is essential to the well-being of a Muslim. It is very important that our attendees walk away with a road map of principles that will guide them through life and the wisdom to overcome the challenges that they may face.

The development of sound character, personality traits, good habits, a conducive method and style of interaction and communication, to a higher level is at the forefront of our agenda. In this conference we plan to emphasize the importance of achieving emotional stability, spiritual balance, and physical well-being. We seek to highlight the role of emotions in the life of the Muslim and the proper approach to dealing with these human feelings. By using these life lessons as tools, our intended audience will leave this conference confident, aspiring to be a more effective individual and in turn a more involved, and efficient activist in the larger Muslim community.”

Dear sis (if that is your real name),

Depends on whether or not I like those things. If I don’t it, gives me all the more reason not to go to any of the conferences. MSA needs to change up its act, its been doing the same lame pseudo-halal entertainment sessions with some comedy act by some guy who broke his funny bone playing checkers. :-D

Also, MSA is too focused on getting numbers and less focused on making their program quality. If they put work into their quality they would spend less time advertising and the conference would advertise it self.

    Sincerely,

    Faiez Jackington.

MSA needs to change up its act,

Since we’ve been going to so many of them, maybe some of us might feel that way. But who knows, maybe they don’t want to change it up to keep it’s style in tact? In any case, regardless, at the end of the day, of a surety, all conferences need some fresh and more forward thinking programs ideas, and iA we can work with our organizers to make that happen.

its been doing the same lame pseudo-halal entertainment sessions with some comedy act by some guy who broke his funny bone playing checkers.

They should get you to perfarm. You are thee funny one. Go team Discovery Channel.

    Sincerely,

    Faiez Jackington.

Now that’s more like it, Mr. Wayne.
