Umran obtained a BA Arabic and History (First-Class Honours) from SOAS, University of London. During his undergraduate studies he wrote a prize-winning essay on Muslim Intellectual Life in 8th Century Baghdad for Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar. He currently teaches Arabic and Islamic History at the Hounslow Jamia Masjid & Islamic Centre and is the Academic Programmes Manager at Al-Salam Institute, London.
