Alhamdulilah, it seems that the UK police have declared that Channel 4 distorted the speeches of Muslim preachers in UK. This really makes me so much more respectful of UK law enforcement versus American law enforcement, who would not even raise a finger against the media here (consider Fox Noise and the lack of any “controls” on it for propagating lies and Islamophobia). I ranted angrily about the documentary on my old blog here and here. This was my message to Channel 4, pre-release of fakomentary:
“Channel 4, here’s my message for you: The anti-Muslim sentiments are already resounding in the West, a large chunk of people already think Muslims are inherently violent or evil, Islamophobia is already rampant; so let me tell you straight-up that you have succeeded, that the media has ALREADY succeeded in destroying our image. Your “icing on the cake” with this documentary will now only serve to enrage those who already hate… What you should have done INSTEAD, was to spend 12 months locating positive stories in the mosques. So, that you could help heal the wounds, not add insult to injury…”
Sh. Chao mentions this in his post here. More info on the Independent, on Times Online, and Channel 4’s lame defense on Guardian. Of course, all these are UK newspapers… not a whisper from the major US newspapers (or one that I could easily find). Where is Fox Noise now, which was constantly showing clips of the fakementary?
Some quotable quotes:
- The Crown Prosecution Service said the show “completely distorted” what the trio said, a claim Channel 4 rejects. Kevin Sutcliffe, commissioning editor for Dispatches, said West Midlands police had produced no evidence to support their claims. “We find it extraordinary that they have gone public on these concerns without discussing them with us first,” he said.
- After viewing 56 hours of material, only a fraction of which made the final cut, a lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) claimed the editing process had “completely distorted” what speakers were saying and advised police to drop their criminal investigation.
- “The CPS has demonstrated it will not hesitate to prosecute those responsible for criminal incitement but, in this case, we have been dealing with a heavily edited programme, apparently taking out of context aspects of speeches which in their totality could never provide a realistic prospect of any convictions.”

I think that Muslims in the U.K., America, AND Canada – wherever this “fakumentary” got into the news and had an effect on people – should start an active campaign to show what a lie and scam the whole thing is/ was.
Write letters to the editors of the newspapers, call up TV stations, whatever! Extra Da’wah-outreach programs might be a good idea also, especially in the U.K.

I think Channel 4 simply took a page from FOX’s playbook when they made this “fakomentary”…

Assalamualaikum
Alhamdulilah! Allah has protected the reputations of these excellent imams.
Green Lane Mosque is a lovely mosque and always promotes the true message of peace and social responsibility in Islam – nothing like their slanderous accusations.
The latest Dispatches programme screened on Monday was another hatchet job on the Muslims and was called ‘Britain under attack’.
It included this Muslim government advisor Haras Rafiq who said that ‘9%’ of muslims support the London bombings. No evidence was offered to support this.
There is an excellent critique of Dispatches at ummahpulse.co.uk – you should have a look.

Allaah says,
“They plot and plan; and Allaah also plans – and Allaah is the Best of Planners.”
{al-Anfaal (8): 30}
This is a real slap in the face for the likes of TJ Winter (Abdal-Hakim Murad), MECO, Haras Rafiq and other conniving failures who really thought that the only way they could get their own partisan agendas across was to participate in such a documentary.

Dang! Those lamoids got exposed big time.
As we say in Murrland, “Barrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!”
It was only a matter of time before the lies of the kuffar was exposed.

The sad thing was a certain group of people who I shall describe rather than name jumped on the media bandwagon. A group of people who are overly harsh with muslims.
A group of people who’s leaders and organisers have been involved in all sorts of debauchery themselves.
A group of people who’s examples/teachers are are either uneducated or Madinah uni drop-outs.
A group of people situated very near to Green Lane mosque.
Their leader (let’s call him Abu thiqah) done a Jumah khutbah using the material from the documentary against Abu Usamah Dhahabi (a teacher at Green Lane).
Later the same notorious Abu thiqah done a ‘hush-hush’ talk (which someone managed to tape) spreading that Green Lane are terrorists! And we’ve been warning against them for years!
Subhaan Allah! Even the non-Muslims have shown more justice than this so called bastion of the dawah in the west.
It shows how low some people can go that they have to step on other Muslims just to raise thier own name.

It seems after the who thing with the BBC documentary about the Queen, there’s been a lot more people pointing out distortion through editing. Inshallah in future they’ll be too scared to twist people’s words like that again.
