In what has also become now a cruel twist of fate, American Muslims are now paying their own price for lack of vision, as the United States now increasingly turns on Muslims, demonizing and terrorizing them, not unlike this recent incident in New York, where a mosque was attacked by a small pack of marauding teens.

As part of a US State Department sponsored visit, the Imam visited Fanar Islamic Cultural Center and gave the Friday khutbah (sermon). Afterward, I was able to sneak in a couple of questions, as well as having a chat with the attaché of the US Embassy in Qatar.

Difficult situations require difficult answers and out of the box solutions. The question now is where from here? The question of considering options must also be firmly rooted in the age-old Islamic axiom: where the harm exceeds the benefit, look for other options.
