I am always amazed to hear these kinds of speeches and comments on mainstream media… it’s impressive how freedom of speech and the press can be used to keep politicians in check. No wonder Musharraf has closed down the media… it really is so powerful! Though it is unfortunate that this power is not usually used in the name of justice, but rather in the name of ratings. :(

Ratings have nothing to do with his commentary. MSNBC doesn’t enjoy the ratings that other news channels do. And trust me, the stuff he says is for justice, not for ratings.

Whenever a western leader is criticised, i usually hear them come out with the same old line that “well at least we allow freedom of speech”. Yet, for some reason i can’t fathom, no-one asks them how that answers the criticism levelled against them.
