Selling Bracelets for the Poor

A new craze with kids these days has craft stores scrambling to keep rubber bands stocked on their shelves.  It’s not a television show, not a video game, not the iPad, iPod or iPhone, but a bunch of colored rubber bands from a Rainbow Loom kit that have the attention of children across the country.

The first time I saw my friend making them at school during recess, the bracelets got me so interested that I started off making my own bracelets using rubber bands with my hand until my mom bought me the Rainbow Loom.  I was amazed by all the different designs and with the help of Youtube videos, I ended up making bracelets for my friends and family.

Because the bracelets were so popular, my friends and I had the idea to sell them.  Recently, we had started the Rescue Rangers project through the Zakat Foundation of America to raise money for the people who lost their homes in Philippines.  We felt sorry for all the people who suffered a great deal due to the typhoon and we wanted to get good deeds and help them.

When we held a bake sale, the bracelets I made with my friends were so popular that almost every person who attended bought one.  Alhamdulillah, my friends and I are really happy that we are able to do our part to help the needy in the world.  We hope that we can keep using creativity to help others.

Adeeba Allimulla is a friendly girl who loves to spend time with her family and friends.  She enjoys riding her bike and playing on the computer.  She is the oldest of three sisters and is 9 years old.  Adeeba enjoys helping others and plays an important role as a member of the ZF Rescue Rangers team.  She lives in Delaware.
