A moment later, the train stopped at the Canal Street station, prosecutors said, and Mr. Melendez tried to kick the man as he stepped off the subway car. As the two men struggled, the complaint stated, another man who was with Mr. Melendez — Eddie Crespo, 28 — grabbed the victim and tossed his kufi onto the subway tracks while shouting, “You know, I really don’t like Muslims.”
According to prosecutors, Mr. Melendez then punched the man repeatedly in his face, causing “substantial pain” and “bruising and swelling” to his left eye.

According to another local news story, the imam refused medical attention, so we pray that means his injuries were not medically serious.
The day after an imam was attacked in NYC, the US Attorney General appeared at the annual dinner of Muslim Advocates in San Francisco, showing his appreciation for Muslim American cooperation with law enforcement while defending the FBI’s practice of sending informants into mosques, hoping the informants can convince someone — anyone — there of committing a violent crime.
In his remarks, Mr. Holder said the cooperation of Muslim-Americans had been essential in preventing terrorist attacks. He said that the Justice Department was focusing on “violence, threats, vandalism and arson against Muslims and Arab-Americans,” and that in the last fiscal year federal prosecutors won convictions of more hate-crime defendants than any year but 2000.
“I believe that law enforcement has an obligation to ensure that members of every religious community enjoy the ability to worship and to practice their faith in peace, free from intimidation, violence or suspicion,” Mr. Holder said.
But he also rejected criticism of some counterterrorism techniques used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, including sending informants into mosques in search of would-be terrorists and creating elaborate sting operations enabling them to carry out fake attacks using dummy bombs.

Can we zoom in on these words please: “I believe that law enforcement has an obligation to ensure that members of every religious community enjoy the ability to worship and to practice their faith in peace, free from intimidation, violence or suspicion.” Unless of course its the FBI committing that intimidation, violence, or suspicion.

Another choice quote from the speech: “But you also have my word that the Justice Department will — just as vigorously — continue to pursue anyone who would target Muslims, or their houses of worship.†Again, anyone other than the FBI.

As ussual, CAIR’s allegations of a Hate Crime where dropped. CAIR is full of lies with a desire to spread Islam into all branches of Goverment and society. One of the men accused here is married to a Muslim woman. It turns out the Imam is the one that started the altercation.
CAIR, dividing Muslims and Americans one false hate crime at a time.

What has been published by news media is that the grand jury did not vote to indict the men of hate crimes. That means they did not feel they were presented with enough evidence to support an indictment. What CAIR reported before was also what was reported by the news media, an alleged hate crime, and those reports were also produced here.
What you wrote is at best inaccurate. One man was charged with misdemeanor assault — but not the imam.
Misstating facts appears to be your problem, not CAIRs.
