My grandparents are in South Africa and we spoke to them just this morning; tonight was their first Taraweeh so they’ll be fasting tomorrow, insha’Allah. In my city also, looks like we’ll be fasting tomorrow! :D

As Gustav approaches the Gulf Coast, let’s remember the people of Lousiana in our prayers.
A quick tip– fill up your gas tanks… expect prices of gas/diesel to go up quite a bit… at least based on the previous hurricane. Many refiners have shut down in the LA area.

i cannot believe that Icna and Zaytuna both said Ramadhan starts on Tuesday but the big community center in my area announced its tomorrow…….aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……..tomorrow makes it a doubtful day for me, since i want to follow a big organized Jamah as opposed to a small masjid which has no facilities to sight a moon……but my family and community is following the small masjjid so i have to go along with them but i am still doubtful about its authenticity…im thinking if it would be Makrooh for me to fast tomorrow….

our Masjid is following others in the “NY area”, so we are fasting tomorrow. Interestingly, Houston is having Ramadan tomorrow, because they were following the opinion that 30 days of shawal are complete today.
I would suggest you follow your family and your community. I was going to follow whatever our Masjid decided…

Fasting has already started (I’m fasting at the moment, walhamdulilah) in Australia! I think for a change, we are ALL united down under! The moon was sighted, walhamdulillah.

yeah … the video clip is nice, i suppose. after watching it … i noticed that there was a “linked” video at the bottom entitled “Warning on Yasir Qadhi”. Obviously a hit job done by neo-Salafi playa hatas. anyway, i don’t think this is good business MM. it doesn’t do much for the Sheikh’s image either.
on the upside though … i got a chuckle out of it. thanks.

Ramadan Mubarak to you too Abu Ameerah.
Not sure what we can do about the links… I think it brings it up with every YQ video… though there may be some way to exclude them… I’ll ask MR.

Some of you should feel lucky that you have a Masjid that is consistent :)
Our masjid, mashallah, changed the ramadan announcement 2 hours before Iftaar, calling their earlier decision a mistake!
Sometimes one wonders what goes on in the minds of people…

Assalamu alaikum….Ramadan Kareem everyone!
I had a question…..there is a specific du’a that is supposed to be read between every four raka’ah of Taraweeh….but I wanted to know if this is authentically from the Sunnah or an invention?

MK, this has come up before in our Masjid, so what I know is that there is nothing authentically reported with respect to a specific dua/dhikr.

McCain anyone?
McCain: No Muslim president, U.S. better with Christian one
Though I would say a large chunk of the American population would not be prepared to accept a Muslim in the Oval Office, if the Obama “Muslim smear” was any indication of that. Islamophobia has been successfully inculcated in this country, with no small share of it the work of Israel-supporting zionists, and other right-wingers.
On a different note, fly-on brother:
Muslim pilot allowed to resume flying
I know for a fact, as many in this county do, the DHS “Muslim-watch-list” is a big sham, especially when my 8 year old boy is on it!

This is awful news:
Ground assault by US-led forces: Women, children among 20 killed in Waziristan
Anger rises over US-led border raid
And what can a nation, which is going to have Mr.10%, corrupt, shameless man Zardari as its next president, no doubt with full support from USA, expect? Pakistan had no real sovereignty, and this shameless US infiltration was just more proof. Way to go US military… way to go for winning hearts and minds of Muslims! May Allah give solace to the families of those killed, and bring those to justice who inflicted this injustice.
