Welcome to the third Sunday Open Thread of the new year. This morning I had the good fortune to hear the dars of the shaykh of Dar ut Taqwa in Maryland. And alhamdolillah, he shared a particular wisdom I wish to share with you: in Islam the ends never justify the means. Why? While many people realize good deeds can be destroyed by riyaa (doing deeds for the praise and attention of people), many people do not grasp that good deeds lose their reward, also, if they are done by evil means. It is a vanity that afflicts both Muslims and non-Muslims, alike.

May Allah bless the shaykh and increase him in ‘ilm. May Allah guide him, me, you, and all of our families.

Bismillah walhamdolillah. May Allah accept my repentance and yours. I am an attorney, a stepfather, a husband, a son, and a Muslim. Studying Islam is a means, reflecting what I have learned is a must, and to Allah is the inevitable return. If you would like my help, know that Allah is the source of all aid. Assalamualykum,
    Dalil from Quran;
    surah bakarah 262. Those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.) (263. Kind words and forgiving of faults are better than Sadaqah (charity) followed by injury. And Allah is Rich (free of all needs) and He is Most Forbearing.) (264. O you who believe! Do not render in vain your Sadaqah (charity) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men, and he does not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day. His likeness is the likeness of a smooth rock on which is a little dust; on it falls heavy rain which leaves it bare. They are not able to do anything with what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.)

    jazakallahu khairaa

    Seems like many Anglo Australians are up in arms today due to a cartoon being published in an Indian news paper depicting Victoria Poilce as Klu Klux Klan. Gillard has even gone so far to make a public statement about it…….What ever happened to sense of humour? ….well at least thats what they said about the danish cartoons depicting the Prophet of Islam. Funny how people act now that the shoe is on the other foot? Article can be found in most Australian news papers

    Salams
