“If you donโt try to wake up for Fajr, there is really no benefit in you waking up at all.”
I remember Shaykh Hamza telling us this many years ago in one of his lectures. It hits the spot.

Some major news recently: a federal appeals court reversed the decision to bar Dr. Tariq Ramadan from entry to the US. That is some really good news, Al-Hamdu Lillah.

I don’t know why specific names have to be used to make a point…going abroad for education is bad. Its inappropriate to draw attention to someone and their entire family by name…I don’t know who thinks its a good idea to post stuff like this but it’s ridiculous!
No human is perfect; we all have our hidden sins. Hypocrisy is 2 delude yrslf into denying yr own sins and allow arrogance to grow w/in u. You can’t expose an individual’s sin to illustrate a point.

I am sorry Shabana, but do you think this is a “private matter”?
It’s all over NY newspapers. Right-wing outlets are having a feast creating new conspiracy theories.
Marriage is never a “hidden” sin. Esp. marriage that is associated with so much publicity.

It is really a sad news. These days i am seeing plethora of muslim woman marrying kuffar man while it is not allowed by consensus. I don’t understand these parents. They ran away from this country to send there kids back to the same place alone and that too a girl. Amazing. Why did they go back in the first place , i just do not understand.

It may not be a private matter…but I certainly wasn’t aware of it until I read it here. And, I’m sure I’m not the only one. I don’t think that’s a valid excuse to say the New York newspapers have it so it’s fair game. We do have different standards as Muslims.
No parent intentionally wants their child to be headed in the wrong direction…they did raise her in a very religious environment and move to a different country. How many families do that? I don’t think her parents’ and brother’s names needed to be brought up. It’s rather unfair to blame her parents for a decision a grown 32 yr old woman made.

Yeah keep living in cuckoo’s land. If you didn’t knew it the story was still public and in NY news papers. It was already open. Nobody is backbiting them. This is a clear case of haram and we should learn from this.
Secondly the parents are responsible for there kids religion. Now the question is that when they returned to KSA for saving there religion then why send your kid back to the same place from where you ran? I mean this does not make any sense to me.
If i fear for my religion and decides to leave US than why would i ever send my kids alone to US. Isn’t this a logical question?

Anyone have any thoughts on the Usama Hasan vs. Murtaza music boxing match?
Quite entertaining debate, sounds like some brothers from the audience getting a bit emotional with the comments from the speakers… i caught a few episodes of it..
Perhaps someone knowledgable could break down the arguments, there were some ahadeeth mentioned by brother U. Hasan about the Prophet (saws) listening to “Music” of certain ppl and allowed it and he essentially argued that all the ayat that are generally referred in prohibiting music could not be used as direct evidence even thought some sahaba understood it so??? Most of his evidences and arguements were quite new to me and was based on a book in his hand ( audio was poor, he mentioned the reference but i coudlnt hear it clearly)..I believe that even if those hadeeth are saheeh they could be circumstational and therefore a general rule could not be derived from it…moreover, the hadeeth in saheeh bukhari is very clear…
I think the debate missed an essential point of clearly defining what we mean when we refer to “Music” or ma`azif at the onset…what the prohibition is in reference to….

Salaam,
I like your blog, but I think you guys copied this website, http://muslimindia.in/ please clarify this I think it is wrong for you guys to do such great work, but hide the fact that you are stealing from other peoples site. You even have one of their writers as yours.

actually we have had this design for quite some time. Muslimindia hired a designer who copied the site customizations we made (thought not very well, thats why their menu bar is not formatted properly).
they have also copied articles from MuslimMatters and tried to pass them off as their own, even listing some of our authors on their site.
anyway, Allah knows best, but their site looks like a spam site – as evidenced by the (literally) half-naked women pictures all over the front page advertising weight loss.
