yeah I watched this live, I have to admit they both were surprisingly very funny. I was very shocked that McCain could make me laugh at the end of his speech when talking about expectations for Obama’s speech.

Who knew they could write such funny jokes.

Yes, they put on a comedy special while Rome burns. If only Nero had been so clever.

    bismillah.

@shirien, from my experience i can tell you that they very likely wrote none of that material themselves. they were however, all alone up there delivering those lines and reacting to them. and in that both did very well. if all the campaigns had followed the same level of decorum from the primaries to today, then the country would be better served. wAllaho’Alim.

@Abu Umar, remember that for the kaafir, this life is heaven. so let them enjoy it in this fashion if they will. one thing that was not picked up on by many viewers i am sure is that this was a charity-fundraiser. when the eminent of this society get together to shell out big contributions, they want a grand show. celebrities of politics and media who attend often do so at the request of organizers just so that people will pay/contribute more for the privilege of being with them.

so, even if it seems evil to some of us to see such these people gorge on pomp when the poor cannot fill their gas tanks at the pump, remember that the money raised will help many poor people. the saddest thing of all is how the blessings of such sadaqah will likely never reach many of these people just because they insist on taking partners with Allah.

I thought McCain was funnier out of the two… One thing I have to respect about Americans is that even with all the nastiness that has been slung around they are still able to come together as collegues..senators. This is something, unfortunately, that some Muslims can’t seem to do. To come together after everything has been said and done and be civil with each other. To put things behind them and at least present a united front.

bismillah. you know what i am curious about? back before Madame Parrot was defending our borders against Putin’s neo-Red Menace and Canada’s Red Maple Leaf (“did you notice both countries are reds!!!”), way back when W’s campaign was pounding the tar out of John McCain, what slogans was she parroting then?

seriously, Sarah “the Parrot” Palin probably never had an original thought her life outside of her own self-promotions and abuses of office. yet she is highly politically motivated and obviously willing to toe the party line.

so back when the GOP party line became a noose tied around the ’04 McCain campaign, how hard was she hauling on the hangman’s rope? has anyone found any quotes of hers regarding McCain from that campaign?

bismillah. okay, i’ve said it before — i’ll say it again: please Digg this article.

i just submitted it to Digg, and all praise is for Allah, and the reward of this thread is to those who worked to upload these videos and this page so quickly — BECAUSE THERE WAS NO OTHER STORY ON DIGG that directly mentions the candidates appearance at this dinner.

so DIGG like you have never dugg before.

Shirien- I think you mean, ‘who knew they had such funny speech-writers?’

“I never knew your great grandfather, but as John Mcain tells me…”

“I was born on krypton, sent here to save planet Earth…”
    Hahahaha
    That was an awesome joke

    Asalaam Alaikum

I am new here and I just wanted to say good job on this website to the moderators and authors. Anyway, regarding the election, I think this is a very important election but the setup from the past 8 years and before that has been leading up to the crises of today and I think it defenitely needs a great leader to take this country out of the mess its in already.

But most people are forgetting that this mess is bigger than it looks and 4 year term for either leader is not going to do much even if they work as hard as they can, just my honest opinion, because the Bush adminstration has put this nation in a quick sand of problems without active solutions from the wars to credit mess.

So not only the next president will have gray hair (if its Obama) in his first two years but also wont be able to do much regarding the International sphere and financial mess.

bismillah. @Amad. i think a lot of comedians would disagree with you — his official title will be clown-in-chief.

    bismillah.

it just boggles the mind that two people, who are running for the office of presidency, attacking each other in the most negative ways, can come together like this and act like buddies. either they are both really great actors, with their diplomatic talents, or they’re all just one big happy family on the inside and pretend to hate each other in front of the rest of the world! it’s just beyond comprehension…….

subhan Allah! how the kuffaar will always flatter, praise and compliment each other even as opponents…….
