The Tribute to Virginia Tech Muslim Hero – Waleed Shaalan

Published

Alhamdulilah, the tribute from MuslimMatters.org (as announced here) has been completed. It took more time than we anticipated because more work went into it than anticipated.

Some AWESOME volunteers undertook this task. They did more than what was asked of them, and it is reflected in the quality of the work. They compiled a video and an album with comments and pictures. It was shipped out to Waleed’s family in Egypt last week. May Allah accept the efforts of all those that engaged in it, and shower His Mercy on Waleed, and his family.

Team:
Nawal Elnashar – Graphics Designer
Aisha Meghani – Tribute Layout Designer
Sara Ali – Tribute Video Creator
Sadia Khan – Tributes Collector
Safiya Ravat – Tributes Collector
Anonymous Sister B. – Organizer

    « اثْنَتَانِ فِى النَّاسِ هُمَا بِهِمْ كُفْرٌ الطَّعْنُ فِى النَّسَبِ وَالنِّيَاحَةُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ».

Translation: Two actions of (minor) kufr: wailing over the dead and denying lineage (saying you’re not the son of your father).

Not sure how it relates to this. We are not wailing… we are celebrating and remembering.

Then how is this different than Ashoura and Mawlid?

What are the Deeni boundraries of wailing?
