Roundup and Open Thread – 10-19-08

Published

Here’s a roundup of a couple of interesting things around the net that we’ve been meaning to highlight but haven’t necessarily had a full chance to.

ObsessionWatch – Exposing the DVD and the people behind it.

The Rival to the Bible –  The oldest known copy of the Bible is now digitised. What’s in there that’s not in today’s Bibles? Jews killing Jesus, and a lot of anti-Jewish rhetoric for one. Also gives further proof against the idea that the Bible of today is still literally the ‘Word of God.’

bismillah. the hearts and minds of the show-me state seem very open, indeed! you should click the link if only to gawk at the crowd.

and the number — 100,000 — that’s been confirmed according to the article by local police. it’s enough to make me wonder if the racists have enough artillery left to take this election (ala KS-MO cross-border fights between abolitionists and slavers)

i’m no troller of WSJ sites. i found this article by digging.

The only decent character in the Bush administration, Colin Powell, has now endorsed Obama. The proverbial nail in McCain’s coffin.

    Reasons:

As a key reason, Powell said: “I would have difficult with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, but that’s what we’d be looking at in a McCain administration.”

And of course, he sees Palin for what she is, NOT ready:

“She’s a very distinguished woman, and she’s to be admired,” he said. “But at the same, now that we have had a chance to watch her for some seven weeks, I don’t believe she’s ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president. And so that raised some question in my mind as to the judgment that Senator McCain made.”

Here‘s the meet the press interview.

    Nice to hear this:

What if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer is no, that’s not America.

That was beautiful what Powell said in his endorsement of Obama.
I’m not Muslim but I’m sick and tired of these rightwing fanatics going after all Muslims. It’s a disgrace to who we SHOULD BE as Americans.
And the attack on that Dayton mosque was inexcusable.
Thankfully Powell expressed some true American patriotism. I hope his words echo across the U.S.

Anyone hear about that doll? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKahCRbWnkw&eurl= I just saw it a few mins ago.

I think it’s quite funny yet sad. I don’t think it’s saying “Islam is the light”…People have too much time on their hands.
