Pay Off Your Debt – Khutbah by Muhammad Faqih

Published

This is a good reminder about paying off debts. He touches upon doing hajj vs. paying off debts, and also includes examples from the Seerah about when the Prophet (saw) himself went into debt, and what the circumstances were.

SubhanAllah, my husband and I had a shared debt of almost 50,000.00 from our days of jahiliya (college!). So not only were they debts but debts with interest! We fretted that we would never be able to get out of debt before we die and get rid of the riba. I started making dua’ to Allah to get me out of debt within a year, and within a couple of weeks my father died and I received $50,000.00 as a result of that and am not debt free. Sincerely put your trust in Allah, and never underestimate what seems impossible because everything is possible for Allah and he is the One who provides!

This is a very callous comment. You seem happy that your father died so you could get his money. It’s not his fault that you were in debt. Do you really believe that Allah caused your father to die just so you could pay off your debt?
