Response to Bin Laden 9/11 Video and Other Reflections

Six years ago still seems like yesterday. The sequence of events that morning are still vivid in my mind. I remember walking to the student center at the university and seeing what was happening; a campus of 30,000 all cramming themselves around the few TV's that they could find. I watched in horror as the events unfolded. Then, in my state of shock, I began to fear for myself, as other students started making comments about how Osama did it…looking at me, brown and bearded.

I still grieve for the victims of this tragedy. How can one not grieve when a fellow human being loses a loved one, a family member, a son, a daughter, a wife, or a mother. It is a grief that saddens the heart, especially when we feel it so close to home.

I thought I would take this opportunity to share a video response to the new OBL video, as well as some other reflections on what occurred on this day.

Dr. Ali Shehata has posted this video response to Bin Laden's new video, please view and continue reading the post,

The following video from Suheir Hammad on Def Poetry Jam is a really good post 9/11 reflection. Watch the video with the warning that some of the content may have inappropriate language.

Also the Daily Show that first aired after 9/11 is worth watching (click here if the embedded video isn't working)
