Our mission is to provide a safe, online community, which discusses issues relevant to Muslims, offering practical solutions, shaped by the experiences and viewpoints of our writers.
The site launched in 2007 with a handful of bloggers. It has since grown into an organization of over 50 volunteer staff – including editors, technical support, respected scholars, and talented content providers – all dedicated to the same vision: to please Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, by enabling orthodox thought leaders to affect positive change.
Despite our great progress, we have ambitious plans to expand even further. We are looking for a versatile Human Resources consultant to oversee the recruitment of new staff members, and to assist in the reorganization of our existing infrastructure.

Human Resources Consultant
Reports to: HR Manager
Description
Work with the HR Manager to develop policy, and coordinate human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services by performing the following duties:
- Write directives advising department managers of Company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
- Develop and maintain a human resources system that meets top management information needs.
- Consult legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
- Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
- Plan new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals.
- Develop processes for employee onboarding, development, needs assessment, and training.
- Policy development and documentation
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Requirements
- The applicant should have previous experience in HR, specifically U.S. employment practices, from either the voluntary or private sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the capacity to work in a globally distributed team (including reliable internet access).
- Possess a good understanding of laws and practices affecting the relationship of employees.
- Great personality and people skills.
- Professional demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Internally motivated.
Work Schedule
This is a voluntary role that will involve 2-3 hours of work a week, for an initial period of two months, to be completed remotely.
