I find this article in NY Times extremely annoying, esp. for home-schoolers.
Such blatant stereotyping… simply rubbish.

I agree. This article does a horrible job of portraying Muslim homeschooling. It made me quite sick to read stereotype after stereotype. The truth is that homeschooling is growing amongst all types of different faiths and not just Muslims. There are a variety of reasons why people are homeschooling. I believe first and foremost it’s because people have lost their belief in the public school curriculum. Mothers out there know that they could do a better job teaching their kids, giving them individual attention and observing their strengths and weaknesses.
As a mother of a one year old I am also planning to homeschool my child. In the pursuit of doing this I have started educating myself and am networking with two types of people, those who want to homeschool and those who have already started. If there’s anyone out there like that I’d love to get it contact with you.

Some of the best homeschooling programs are offered by Church. I discovered that when i was researching to enroll my daughter on an online homeschooling program.
I was so frustrated because you have to be a church member to get in. My neighbor offered me to register for me but I found K12 instead.

MASHA ALLAH!!!!!! THis is a historical day, a day predicted by the Prophet salAllahu alayhi wassalam.
So… I’m scrolling thru Yahoo! news and I see this one headline:
“Islam surpasses Roman Catholicism as World’s Largest Religion”
ALLAHU AKBAR!! Check it out:

p.s. I realize all the Christian sects combined make up around 33% which is more than Muslims, but still. It’s good news.

It would be greatly appreciated.

re: homeschooler article, wow that was laughable – I’m surprised NY Times let the writer get away with that piece of claptrap
In other news, I heard this piece on NPR the other day and thought it was an interesting piece on speaking Truth to Power.
You can browse through the conversation the author had with Robert Mugabe in his (the author’s) role as humanitarian rep for the U.N.
Or you can listen to the audio where he discusses the credibility issues surrounding Darfur, the problem of media focus and the hidden humanitarian hotspots of the world.

Found the Hukoom for being No. 1:
1 : When comes the Help of Allah
2 : And you see that the people enter Allah’s religion (Islam) in crowds,
3 : So glorify the Praises of your Lord, and ask for His Forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and forgives.

Assalaamu alaikkum wa rahmathullahi wa barakathuhu,
I don’t know if Iam writing in the proper column, but somehow I wanted to post this note here, and am now.
After a long struggle, we had our first Jumuah salah in Fords Masjid, NJ on March first week. Alhamdulillah, I was so elated that the joy of making Jumuah Salah in a Masjid was flooding inside me and I was overwhelmed by it. But things don stop here. I was much saddened to see that people, especially in the sisters Area used this particular Khutba time as a gathering time, noises were going on and on when the Imam was delivering the Khutba. And the next irritating things was to see the Masjid’ toilet similar to that of a johny on the go. Issh…..!! Wish I had never seen that before.
The point of recalling the events here is to know if I can get access to any article which speaks on these issues, the rights of a masjid, the rights of a khutba and how to/not to use the masjid for our sake. I happenned to come across a khutba by mohammed AlShareef, but it was short. I wanted some more strong points to print and distribute to the crowd in this Jumuah.
Brothers and sisters, please help me in locating the authentic and good articles on the Rights of the Masjid & Rights of the Jumuah Khutba and How to/not to use the masjid.
Your efforts would be rewarded by Allah SWT insha Allah. And I pray that Allah forgives us all and grants His mercy in this life and on the day of Yawmal Qiyamah, Aameen.
Jazakallah Khair in advance.

@ Faiez:
No problem :)
I thought that I should just add a a disclaimer though that I do not endorse muslim-answers’ staunch support for the Ashari aqeedah, nor their anti-Salafi inclinations. (Just a quick warning so that nobody gets tripped up by that on my account, inshallah.)
