  16. dear shaykh,
I am tired of bombings in pakistan carried out by taliban-the muslim community and the scholarship is not condemning it as it should. It seems we have more taliban sympathisers than those who oppose it. The topic is difficult to discuss in an article but we need to explicitly convey that this is unislamic.

  19. Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I read an article by Ustaadh Ismail about the Islamic studies curriculum in Islamic schools. The masjid in our community has been having administration problems for quite a few years now (around 6-7 years) and so there has not been a proper curriculum or classes set for the youth in our area. We have dozens of families (almost 200 children!) all within our community who should be finding beneficial classes in our masjid, but rather go to masajid miles and miles away in the hopes of helping their children gain knowledge.

In all my time I’ve been at this masjid, since before the administration problems, I’ve seen children come and go. I try to do as much as I can; I hold classes at the masjid feesabeelillah, and alhamdulilah we have gathered a group of 15-20 kids who are more or less frequent. Because of staffing issues, however, there is not much time for me to teach the children anything other than recitation of the Qur’an. I would love to hold other classes such as Arabic, Aqa’id, Tafseer, and more, but the problem lies in lack of knowledge on my part. I cannot teach these subjects because I am yet to delve into them myself, and also, I do not know of any way to set up a curriculum that would give us enough time to teach children these things.

Ya Ustaadh, please write an article on how to set up the administration in a masjid, and how important it is that there be a curriculum in place that benefits all those who come to learn. How do we find staff? What is the criteria to follow to hire this staff? How do you train them? How do you set up a classroom?

    Jazakallahu khair!
