  3. Assalaamu Alaikum Sister :) I’m just an ordinary hijabi high school girl.

I would just like to say that I really love your articles pertaining to issues on marriage in Islam. It really opened my eyes and helped me view the topic more clearly!

I really have a question pertaining to something that has been bothering me for some time. I really trust that you could shine a light on this topic.

Lately, I have started questioning the issue on wearing makeup. It is widely debated and quite controversial because of how different the opposing views are from each other.

One side bans makeup unless a women chooses to wear it for adornment around her husband, and that she is not permitted to wear it anywhere else, be it shopping, working, parties/occasions, etc.
This side also debates that makeup is meant to draw attention to oneself, and that wearing a hijab would be useless to do so if it was meant to draw attention away.

The other side states that makeup is permitted, due to the fact that it is not banned in any ayah of the Qur’an or any Hadith. It also goes on to say that makeup is only permitted if her intentions to wear it are clear. It states that wearing makeup for the soul purpose of attracting men is unlawful in Islam, and that other pure intentions are allowed.

Of course, I choose to stay open-minded with this issue because of how it is so broad. However, it is an issue that I remain confused about. It would really mean a lot to me if you got to this!! I pray that you will be able to address this problem! Thank you so much!

  4. Assalamu’alaykoum,
I would love to read an article about finding time to read the Quran, to make du’a, and supererogatory prayers when an excessive amount of work is required in our studies (in the case of very competitive and harsh studies/work).

Thank you so much and I hope you’re making the most of the last ten days of Ramadan incha’Allah

  5. Assalamu Alaykum Sr Hena

I hope this post finds you in great health and happiness.
Will you write an article about racism and discrimination inside muslim communities? We heard enough the other side of the story where muslims are being discriminated by their non-muslim community. Look how we treat our fellow muslim from different ethnic!
My family is under a lot of stress due to the result of discrimination and accusation they are making to my husband who happens to be a white muslim convert. They questioning our right to be part of the local muslim community that happen to be a heavy south asian ethnic background. I am sure you understand the background of the story. Jazakallah Khair
