Assalam alaikum, There are posts on MuslimMatters that we believe are overlooked ‘gems’ that NEED to be read, especially by our new readers. The link to the original post is
Things happen. They always do. You had planned otherwise but Allah subhanahu wata’ala has planned better things for you. The brother may have all the qualities you were looking for but it just didn’t work out. Or that degree you worked so hard for didn’t land you a job. It is possible that someone, with whom you planned to stay forever and raise children, left you stranded. Maybe you have difficult parents who just do not understand. Funds might be lacking and there’s a household to run. Grades are not what you want them to be in order to get into a certain professional school. Someone dear to you passed away or you just lost the “apple of your eyeâ€, your little angel whom you had to bury with your own hands.
“The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you, Until you visit the graves.”
Be prepared to be tested and take it as a sign that Allah loves you and wants to test your love for Him…The truth is that the devil wants us to quit, and by doing so we are just playing into his hands
Truly from the blessings of Allah is that, before I became Muslim, several experiences in my childhood served as such beautiful and potent early morning wake-up training. Unbeknownst to me at the time, these habits cultivated early in life would later be utilized for waking up for fajr prayer.
We know there is wisdom behind everything that Allah does. This is sufficient for us in general terms, even if we do not know the reasons why things happen. Our lack of knowledge about the details of His wisdom is like our lack of knowledge about the details of His Essence. Just as it is proven that His attributes are perfect but we cannot know the reality of His Essence, so we do not reject what we know and are sure of (that He is perfect) because of what we do not know (the details of His perfection).
Are you sick and tired of the constant struggle, pain, embarrassment and humiliation that jealousy is causing in your life? The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “A true servant of God cannot feel jealous – he is content with what God has chosen for Him, and for others.” Clinical research shows us that “Jealousy creates anxiety, anger, loneliness, hate and fear. No one thinks clearly when jealous.” Get ready to learn the simple steps you need to take to stop the feeling of jealousy now, before it rips your life in this world and the hereafter to shreds!
Moreover, this love for the Prophet [صلى الله عليه وسلم] should also make us feel an intense desire to meet him and see him in person, since one favor that his companions had the privilege of possessing, which we can never even hope to do in this worldly life, is the joy of beholding him in flesh and blood before their eyes, talking to him, and being in his company.
Listen to the quiet voice inside yourself. The persistent voice that tells you that there’s something more to life, that calls you to do something meaningful, to experience the world in a profound way. So many of us dismiss that voice. We are told that our dreams are not realistic. We are told that we should settle for what is reliable, and will pay the bills, and garner us the respect of our peers. But if we do not listen to that quiet voice, then who will?
I came to the conclusion that Arafah was not about what we asked, we were being tested as to how we asked and how seriously we treated this matter. I watched a shaykh make nonstop dua for the entire duration while a da’ee slept. I thought to myself, “Which of these two would Allah be more pleased with? Which of them had taken Arafah seriously and given it its full worth?”
