About

Muslimmatters.org is an online magazine which began in 2007 as a collaboration between various bloggers and Shuyukh in order to bring attention to issues faced by Muslims, especially in the West. We have focused on issues of Religion, Society, Ethics, Sex Education, Politics, Civil Rights, Family, as well as the random issues that pop up from now and then, all with some ranting and humor mixed in. We challenge ourselves and our readers to engage in discourses that touch our lives as citizens of the West, while maintaining our individual Islamic identities: ultimately to cooperate, but not to compromise.

Vision

To please Allah (subhanahu wata’ala) by providing a platform for orthodox thought leaders to affect positive change.

Mission

To establish a safe, online community which shares and discusses relevant issues along with practical solutions, shaped by the experiences and viewpoints of its writers.

    As Salaamu’Alaykum,

Very nice introduction of the staff, Just curious what is a “green Villager Mercury van” ?

Mercury Villager is a van made by Ford. It’s just a humorous co-incidence that three of us have it or have had it… If I may go further, van-drivers have some stereotypes attached to them… which is quite alright as long as the van takes our respective family from Point A to Point B :) !

    Salaam Alaikum,

I was wondering if any of you know the self- proclaimed apostate by the name of Abdul-Quddus, author of website Khalas.wordpress.com? Strangely enough, he has your website listed on his page, just one of his many contradictory actions.

If at all possible, I urge you to check out his site and try your best to give him dawah……he is in dire need of it.

I’m not so naive to think that he’s the only one of his kind out there, as his site is full of others claiming to be apostates from Islam.
This saddens me beyond words. May Allah protect the Muslims from their deceit and keep our faith strong. Ameen.

salam Sr. Sumaiyah, we have been in touch with Abdul Qudoos before. Pray for him … he seems to have more than a spark of faith left in him, and we pray that Allah will remove his doubts and bring him back to us. He has always been polite and decent, not like many other apostates who make it their life goal to ‘hate on Islam’.

“…not like many other apostates who make it their life goal to ‘hate on Islam’.”

    Uhh…read the guys latest post…

Trust me…the dude HATES Islam. He just tries to be polite so that people won’t accuse him of being malicious.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum Abu Ameerah. Actually, Sumaiyah and Amad are indeed well aware of the “latest post” you are referring to. Thank-you for your judgement. May we please not turn this page into a debate with ad hominem attacks. This page is about the website MuslimMatters. Thanks and take care. :O)

    MashaAllah….. admirable,witty,dedicated.

Was passing by, thoroLy enjoyed the light- hearted ?autobiographies…. two graphic phrases that stuck were : The icecream addiction ( how cooool ! ) & the twirling of offspring !
Recently i commented thus on the mongolian 7foot 9inch GIANT and his twiggy wife : ” I would love to see him twirl his wife in Bush’s vicinity so her clogs bash out his brains !” Graphic enough?

Well done all. JazakumAllah (much) khairan.

    Asalaamu Alaaikum

When I first came upon this blog, i wasn’t quite sure who it “belonged” to. But I see that is a collaboration of many people-many knowledgeable people masha’Allah.

I think it’s nice that the Shayookh listed up top are writing articles, and posts for the blog. It’s nice to see that they are making efforts to be more connected with the Ummah, especially the youth. And props to Al Maghrib too-and IslamToday/Qa.

We’re blessed to have such knowledge people amongst us to benefit from, Alhamdulilah. And it’s so nice that they are literally just a “click” away. Whereas in the past, people would travel from country to country searching for a Shayookh to either learn from, or to ask questions.

…Anyway, I hope i’ve haven’t fallen into praising you too much.

But I’ve loved every single article i’ve read here so far. lol and nice short bios, got a touch of humor. You guys are…dare I say…”Cool Shayookh”. :p

Keep up the good work, insha’Allah, May Allah reward each and every one of you, ameeen!

    Asalamalaikum, & Kudos to MM!

I’ve a quick request – please let me know if it’s already been covered. I was wondering if MM can write something about appropriate career paths for muslim women. Wallahi, this is going to be really helpful. It would enable the sisters to choose early in their lives the subjects they should pursue. It would help brothers to redirect the academic domains of their sisters, wives, etc. in the right directions.

For e.g., Software Engineering is a nightmare for a sister. Back home, ~50% of the developers were chain smokers, and ~70% used to do real productive work after 5 pm. Then, the consultancy path in the same domain is all about talking to random guys all day long. And my personal experience – many of the sisters gave up on computer science after graduation in favor of marriage, mba, technical writing, or some other poorly paid subdomains in software engineering.

I recall brother Siraaj to be the most suited person for this :>

Firstly can I have zohra sarwani email address. I feel compelled to contact her on her mindless piece of information. (Just she not know every mother in the universe it doing that already. So next step please.

Please please brothers and sisters when we put such stupid articles on a web like this the jew realise how dense we actually are.

It is time we took the cue from them. Articulate, be thorough and make sense – don’t just put non-sense on the web to fill space. If you do need articles get hold of the appropriate people.

    To the administrators of mm,

What is the criteria, if any, about getting these articles published? It seems like some of these articles have not been proofread for content, accuracy nor professionalism. Are there any guidelines before one submits an article? If your motto is supposed to be “intellectual discourse” or the like of it, then please present or publish articles which are islamically and intellectually stimulating
