Two Authentic Signs During Laylatul-Qadr

Published

a signs during Laylatul-Qadr

In the name of Allah, The Most Merciful,

Those who are keen to capture the reward of Laylatul-Qadr (Night of Decree) seek to learn as much as possible about it. They go out of their way to learn the signs during the Layla tul-Qadr from authentic sources. As in Sahih Al-Bukhari, the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said:

“مَن قام ليلةَ القدرِ إيمانًا واحتسابًا، غُفِرَ له ما تقدَّمَ من ذنبِه”

Whoever stands (in worship) during the night of decree out of iman and hope in the reward then all their sins would be forgiven

Two authentic narrations discuss the signs seen during the Night of Decree, not including the signs that appear after the night. If you were to witness these signs during one of the last ten nights of Ramadan, know for a fact that you are witnessing Laylatul-Qadr.

half moon Ramadan signs during Laylatul-Qadr

1. The Moon – a sign during Laylatul-Qadr

In Sahih Muslim, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

تذاكرنا ليلةَ القدرِ عند رسولِ اللهِ صلَّى اللهُ عليهِ وسلَّمَ . فقال : ” أيكم يذكرُ ، حين طلع القمرُ وهو مثلُ شِقِّ جَفْنَةٍ ؟”

We were talking about Laylatul-Qadr in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: He who amongst you remembers (the night) when the moon arose and it was like a piece of a plate?

Brothers and sisters, look at the moon after Isha and Taraweeh. See if the moon looks like half a “jafna” (i.e. half a plate).

2. The Atmosphere – a sign during Laylatul-Qadr

In Sahih Al-Jami’, the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said:

ليلةُ القدْرِ ليلةٌ سمِحَةٌ ، طَلِقَةٌ ، لا حارَّةٌ ولا بارِدَةٌ”

The night of Qadr is a calm, serene and peaceful night. It is not hot nor is it cold…

Remember, if you don’t see these two signs, it does not mean it is not Laylatul-Qadr. Work hard during the last 10 nights of Ramadan and you will, in shaa Allah, secure worshipping Allah on The Night of Decree.

I ask Allah to accept all your acts of worship.

Feel free to share this post with your friends and family.
