I looked at the some of the winners of the previous awards and I cringe how some of them could be considered “Islamic”. I guess we all know follow the “God is in my heart so I can do whatever I want syndrome”.

I hope you dudes win, if not for nothing, but you at least refrain from misleading a generation of confused Muslims like myself. I suppose if some random guy had blog about his pet turtle, and he just happened to be Muslim, can get a crescent award.

(What I read on some of these past winners: “Masterbation is healthy and if need be consider using toys”.
“Having sexual liaisons prepared me for having sexual relations with my wife. It is good and a healthy way”…
and on and on…what planet do these Muslims live in ? Why are the bent on misguiding other muslims. Instead of hiding their other sins, they flaunt them. What is in store for the future ? Am I talking to a brick wall ? Hellooo? )

Agree with you mate. But honestly I have mixed opinion about Brass Crescent nominees. From them I found some really beneficial Islamic websites like Productive Muslim, Muslim Matters, Loonwatch, some anti-Islamphobia websites. Incl. Maniac Muslim and Muslim Medicine for some humor. Also some blogs really open my eyes on the diversity of this ummah and to appreciate them.

But other websites in their list are just kinda modernist liberal, and downright unislamic. I understand they want to maintain diversity and celebrate it, but why going such length as to compromise the Islam itself? I’ve seen pro-LGBT and pro-abortion stuff in them. I think last year one of nominee was Mona Eltawahy “muslim” feminist who strongly advocated the niqab ban –tell me what kind of “muslim” would do that subhanallah.

I just hope this year’s nominees will be better. Insha Allah. Actually just take the good and leave the bad. Not all websites in Brass Crescent list are that bad methinks.
