A little bit of this, a little bit of that… enjoy! :)

From sister Rukhsar, a beautiful poem:

What Is Life?

We sleep, eat, drink and talk,

We play, run and sometimes walk.

We love things, and hate the rest,

When we feel up to it, we’ll try our best.

Sometimes we laugh, otherwise we cry,

And at times, we wonder why.

Life is like the sea my friend,

it flows smoothly until you reach a bend.

It moves around, changing speed,

At times, it serves your deserate need.

This life is full of desire and passion,

Of people, status, fame and fashion.

Why do we strive for money as wealth,
When true riches can be a happy-heart’s health?

Why do we seek to find true love,

When we can have the compassion of the One Who is Above.

Oh people, let’s not waste our lives,

For the pleasure of Allah, let’s all strive.

Let’s live this life in a good mood,

Surrending to Allah, with sincere fortitude.

As you know, I volunteer to teach at my dad’s Madrasah… and while it can be extremely frustrating, annoying, and makes you want to pull out your hair, it can also be extremely amusing.

Without further ado, I present to you: Scene 1 of Little Madrasah on the Island.

“Yo! Will You Marry Me?”

Kid #1: Are having girlfriends/ boyfriends haraam?

The rest of the class: DUH!

Teacher: Yes, it is. *Explains why*

Kid #2: So, when you see a girl, do you just go… “Yo! Will you marry me?!”

The rest of the class: *Bursts out laughing*

Teacher: *Desperately trying to stop himself from laughing out loud* Ummmm, no. But when you’re ready, you tell me, okay? You think you’re ready?

Kid #2: “…Yes!”

The rest of the class: *Bursts out laughing*

The End.

Okay, so you may not find as funny as I did… but whatever. :P

And finally… art. I love art. I’m a rubbish artist, but I absolutely love art – particularly portraits and scenes from real life, painted or photographed. I recently discovered that DeviantART.com is a pretty cool source of Islam/ Muslim-related art… so here are a couple examples which I really like (found by by typing in ‘Islam’ and ‘Muslim’ in the search box).
