As salamu alaykum wa Rahmat Allahi wa Barakatuhu.

Welcome to the third Sunday Open Thread of the new year. This morning I had the good fortune to hear the dars of the shaykh of Dar ut Taqwa in Maryland. And alhamdolillah, he shared a particular wisdom I wish to share with you: in Islam the ends never justify the means. Why? While many people realize good deeds can be destroyed by riyaa (doing deeds for the praise and attention of people), many people do not grasp that good deeds lose their reward, also, if they are done by evil means. It is a vanity that afflicts both Muslims and non-Muslims, alike.
May Allāh bless the shaykh and increase him in 'ilm. May Allāh guide him, me, you, and all of our families.

Studying Islam is a means, reflecting what I have learned is a must, and to Allah is the inevitable return. If you would like my help, know that Allah is the source of all aid.
