SubhanAllah---last year when my husband and I went for Hajj, we prayed Salat al-Istisqaa' at the Haram, and it didn't rain one drop. I remember seeing a dream after the Salah that it rained in Makkah! We had a family friend take us on a tour of Makkah, and when we climbed Jabal ar-Rahmah, we saw rain clouds even, but no rain. Then I saw another dream on the night of 'Arafah that it rained, but no rain still. I remember the Khateeb on the Day of 'Arafah asking (referring to the rain prayer that was done earlier), "Wasn't there even one Saalih amongst us whose dua'a got accepted?" Which brought the whole group to tears...

But hearing about rain this year taught us a new lesson---perhaps Allah's response will come, but not now...maybe in the future; it may be that the mercy and help of Allah is near, but we are impatient, wallahu A'lam.

Hmm... I think we have the two Sh. Mamdouhs mixed.... are you talking about Dr. Mamdouh Mohammed of AOU?

The Mamdouh I am referring to, who is updating his status frequently from the holy cities is Mamdouh Mahmood...

Eid Mubarak! TaqabalAllah minna wa minkum

Just a reminder: let's all examine what our 'Isma'eel' is in our life that we need to sacrifice or are willing to sacrifice to come closer to Allah (swt).... is a person, object, idea, temptation, delusion, etc....?

May Allah envelop us all in His Mercy, ameen
