MuslimMatters: The Book! & Sunday Open Thread 3/11/2009
Imagine: A collection of articles from MuslimMatters.org, polished to gleaming perfection and in print format! Easy to read, easy to access, and best of all, easy to share – and available at your local Islamic bookstore/ library/ centre/ Masjid. This is our dream. A dream which we pray will be realized sometime in the near future – but we need YOUR help.
The Vision:
MuslimMatters: The Intellectual Traditions, Social Ethics, and Cultural Challenges of Muslim Life… The Book
A collection of articles and essays from the popular website MuslimMatters.org, featuring writers such as Sheikhs Yasir Qadhi, Yaser Birjas, and Tawfique Choudhury. Addressing relevant issues faced by Muslims in the West. Spanning all spheres of Muslim life, from inspiration and spirituality, personal development and social struggles, social commentary and practical solutions, education and academia. Both serious and light-hearted; challenging cultural norms while emphasizing the Sunnah.
The First Step:
As with anything else, we need two things: man (and woman :) ) power, and commitment. This is where YOU come in. Although MM staff will be involved in the project, we still won't have the ability to handle it all on our own. So, if you really care about MM, if you really care about sharing the khair, and you want to do your part to help spread beneficial Islamic knowledge – then you can help us achieve this goal, bi ithnillaah.
We need a team of 5 – 7 volunteers, who can dedicate at least a couple hours a week to helping the Book Project organizers complete each and every step. Punctuality and professionalism is a must. An eye for editing and business is also greatly desired.
Realize that this is a serious undertaking, and needs patience, perseverence, and passion. It is definitely a long-term project and requires dedication, but insha'Allah the results in both this world and the Hereafter will be worth it.
With all that said and done, if you still feel that you can be a valuable part of this project, then contact us at: anonymouse@muslimmatters.org for more information and confirmation of your participation.
