Israeli terrorists: you can run [from your crimes] but you can’t hide [them].

These children have brought more attention to the story of the Gaza massacre with their lifeless images than the combined American mainstream media complex.

What is more shameless, the dead children or the American mainstream media’s refusal to even acknowledge them?

I know how you feel………I really do understand. I feel desperately sad when I see these things but I still look knowing how I will feel because the truth is …..the people doing this…….perpetuating this and supporting this, are being allowed to do it because these kinds of truths ARE uncomfortable and do cause distress and are consequently hidden from the public eye.

For those of us who live safe and comfortable, its too easy to pretend this sort of evil isn’t going on…..we need to know and understand that other people aren’t so safe and innocents are paying for politcal idiosy or there can never be that opportunity when a person stands up and says, no this isn’t right – this isn’t civilised – this has to stop. It has to start somewhere. The furtherest source of the great nile is a little muddy trickle of a spring in the middle of an Ethiopian forest.

And for those of us who live safe and comfortable……being uncomfortable and distressed when seeing what humans are really doing to those we should be protecting the most………..its almost nothing compared to those living through it.

To Algebra: Um, it says CAUTION: GRAPHIC IMAGES. If you saw that, then why did you look at it in the first place?

Believe it or not, some people choose to be blind, so the pictures might be a must in order to make them see it with their own eyes. And then, when they still choose to be blind, then you know how heartless they are. So I think we understand what’s going on, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use these pictures to show the real story behind it.

“Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire.

Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success.”

but I do think noone should show their young children because it can deprss them and they still dont understand. psychologists recommend that you dont .. they can start having nightmares.. but adults and teenagers I believe should not shy away

i used to think that we shouldn’t see these pictures, but the more i do, the more i realize that we should show the world. my worry was about desensitizing my heart (the more you see, the less effect it had). but this is not true.

let us rise up. head to the masajids. make sincere dua. join together in our cities and towns.

imagine if every one of 7 million muslims in america became conscious muslims…allah will surely then grant our dua. lets start with ourselves, then our families and friends, and neighbors. we should be heading in crowds to the masjid for fajr, zuhr, asr, maghrib and isha. there should be lines for tahajjud.

i say this first and foremost to myself. i shudder at the thought that most muslims may be like me.

    Cross-posted on AlMaghrib forums

    Bismillah

I’ve been following the work on Muslim Matters and the words of the instructors there, as well as here, (in the other thread in this section) but I think it’s about time something more be done. I appreciate all you are doing, whatever it may be. And I mean that!

I believe AlMaghrib should pause for Gaza. The least they should do is pause the classes. Out of respect. At least stop sending out the emails and the marketing, please.

Beyond that, the instructors need to RALLY the students to Qiyaam with the help of the Ameers and Ameerah. No need to make a statement or get involved with political stuff. But rally the students to the prayer-mats and to make sure they attend to their prayers.

“If we are equal in sins to them, they will be able to overtake us due to their (military) power.” -Umar ibn al-Khattab to Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas.

The least we can do is make sure we aren’t sinning and for each Qabeelah to push their students to this level. Pause the classes and whatever is going on and focus all our energies for this task. I know the teachers have encouraged students to pray, but now it’s time that they bring them under their guidance to the prayer-mat and teach the students the effectiveness of this blessed task. I know at Ilm Summit there was no chance at group qiyaam, so I think we get it underway now.

This is a religious institution and should be the FIRST in organizing something. I know the students will have their mind on Gaza in any one of the seminars and to leave things as is, is separating ourselves from the Ummah. AlMaghrib has the capability of doing something like this, with how many students spread throughout how many cities!

Gaza is important brothers, because what is happening in Gaza can lead to 10 other wars involving our families, and our brothers and sisters in Islam. This could consume the entire Muslim world. It is also important for teachers to watch over the students, lest they act out and perform actions such as harassing Jewish people or getting violent and out of line.

It is related by Hudaifah that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa salam) said: “Do not be of those who do to others as the others do to them, and say that we will do them a favor if they do us a favor, and if they will be mean and unjust to us then we, too, will be mean and unjust to them. On the contrary, resolve that you will do good to them if they do good to you, and if they do a wrong and act unjustly, even then you will not be unfair to them.” (Tirmidhi)

I think a great deal of you will agree with me, even if you do not say so. To know that we could have done something on such a large scale as is within AlMaghrib’s capability, and yet we didn’t….that would make all of us feel worse.

AlMaghrib needs to recognize that it’s not just a teaching institution. It’s students look to it for guidance and support as well. This responsibility does not rest on one group, but everyone. You have a reach to a massive following of students and, no, are not powerless. There is a responsibility AlMaghrib has towards it’s students and I think that need be fulfilled.

P.S. I will re-post this post, should the moderators choose to remove it. Over and over until ALL our heads wet the prayer mat.

I posted this as a reply to you akhi Dawud, and here it is again. In my opinion, they should not lose focus, because remember bad things happen in the world almost every month, even if they are not as dramatic and sad as this. But this is not to say that AlMaghrib might not do something on their own accord, but we can’t force that issue. Offer advice, that takes care of your responsibility :

Ya akhi Dawud, AlMaghrib is an institute devoted to teaching students. The students signed up with AlMaghrib for a specific purpose. You cannot turn an educational institute into a political or an activist one or a charitable one, or vice-versa.

One of the problems that Muslim organizations can be prone to, is to lose focus and purpose of organizational mandate. We cannot make decisions, especially strategic ones, with our emotions. We have different organizations doing different things, each according to what they were set up to do. Each one can do what it does better than if everyone tries to do the same, piece-meal. In other words, each has to work with its mandate and strength to better the Ummah. You can’t mix and match, otherwise it will be one chaotic scene.

I believe the instructors (if you really think about it, AlMaghrib IS the instructors) are doing work on this on their own accord, in their own zones and their own areas of strengths. The Qabeelahs and their Ameers are also working on their own accord within their communities. So, whether you see it or not, AlMaghrib is INDEED doing something for Gaza, on many levels.

Finally, we can only offer suggestions and advice. But we should never allow ourselves to be in a position to impose our opinions on other Muslims or other Islamic organizations. Because ultimately we have to remember that those who are able to bring an organization up to a sufficiently high level, are also best able to make the decisions about what is good for them in the present, and the future (after accepting advice from the general members).

    wallahualam.

    January 9, 2009 at 11:42 PM

Jazaka Allahu khayran for the reply Amad.

I do not see this as losing focus. In fact, I see ignoring this crisis as losing focus. What is the value of knowledge they are teaching if it does not lead us all to the prayer mat in the middle of the night?

And your point about how there are dramatic events in the Muslim world all the time, is simply more reason for this. I think it’s times such as this we need not turn our organizations into bureaucracies. This will defeat our purposes. And Gaza will burn.

I think these pictures depict the reality of what is going on. Yes, they are graphic but they are the truth. I am palestinian and have lived there for a few months. What they go through on a daily basis is unimaginable and indescribable. If these pictures are disturbing you, OH WELL, live with it. Do something about it.’s Islamic relief needs our help. Donate and do what you can here from America. Voice the truth to your fellow americans. Do not let the Israeli Media Propaganda machine win. These pictures will change anybody’s mind about the truth of whats going on. Use your rights as an American and protest the massacre in Gaza. Thats what it is a massacre. Also Dawud Israel. You have no right to claim that Almaghrib Institute is ignoring the crisis by still having classes. What will cancelling our classes accomplish? Nothing. Almaghrib is not a bureaucracy. The instructors themselves our doing everything they can in their Khutbahs to inform people about whats going on. You have no right to accuse them of anything. I am looking forward to the class more than ever. We should increase our knowledge of our deen as much as we can. This time more than ever. By the way your name, you should change it. IF you really are concerned about the muslims in Gaza, why would you use the name Israel? I know what it means about the tribe, but lets face it the name means something totally different today. By the way who says we are not praying in the middle of the night. After taking these classes, I began to pray Qiyam Al Layl. I never did so before these classes. We are not losing focus on anything. If you are too emotional too attend the classes, then dont attend. But too insist on canceling the classes and claiming its a beaucracy is wrong.

While these pictures make me cry…… I cry with all of you, I am sad with all of you, but we can not keep silent. Whenever an innocent child dies it is a crime…… a crime against humanity! Many of us here have been holding fund raisers and setting up awareness films for others to see and understand what has happened in Gaza. I am deeply sorry for what our leaders do…… I hope that you will realize that there so many of us who are in solidarity with you.

I have friends who are both Palestinian and Israeli and I believe leaderships are to blame. Forgive me for taking up space on your website……. my heart is with you and all of Gaza who are innocent, my love and my prayers are also with you.

    Aslamu-alaikum:
I have to admit that Muslimmatters.org was very thoroug in covering the Gaza Crisis.
I was pleasantly surprised. MashAllah. They not only informed us of the situation but also educated us in dealing with the crisis in a Spiratual and Practical way. They wrote articles catering to all of our faculties: Emotional, visual, intellectual.
They used “HIKMAH” in bringing the proper authors to contribute according to what we needed to do(Action) and subsecuently gave us guidance on how to deal with our frustrations(Dr. Ali Shehata’s posts) according to the Quran and Sunnah and also enlightened of us contributions taken by different associations like Al-Maghrib, Islamic Relief, and Cair.
I guess now we need advice on how to build Gaza and form a strong community.

I know, i know, i have complained aobut the different times the authors have deleted my comments but this website is still the right choice for me because it has everything organized in one website. one can flip from one comment to another. It is easy to navigate for people like me that were completely clueless about the internet media and news. Seriously I learnt so much from this website because it was conveniently linked to other KOSHER websites.
Thank you for your time and effort.I mean that no sarcasm.

I am french, catholic, I fear God, I believe Jesus and Allah are cousins and generated the same truth, I saw these awful and painful pictures, I’m shocked, at my point of view, israelians have the same behaviour the nazis had in the past, they’re cruel and inhuman, they feel strong while U.S is on their side, but one day they’ll pay back for all these atrocities commited on Palestinian civilians… what a shame to do that, it’s not human, and against the texts of the Torah, Bible and Qoran … Shame on Israël !!!!

      Philippe,
thank you for sharing your thoughts. Actually Jesus and Allah can never be cousins, because you cannot have two creators or two Gods, otherwise creation would be in complete disarray. Allah created Jesus as a Prophet, as His Word, His Messiah, His beloved messenger. Allah created Jesus, without a father, in the womb of the innocent, righteous virgin, Mary, to show the world how much Allah loves mankind because He sent Prophet after prophet to teach mankind to worship Allah alone.

When is everybody going to open their eyes to reality? Religion is a form of control. We are equal, we are all as one, there is no hell, only the one that we create for ourselves on this beautiful planet that we all share. There IS enough for all of creation, we are the creators. There is no wrong & right, good & bad, if we condone these ‘atrocities’ in our societies today, it is because we are not in touch with WHO WE ARE. Stop giving your power & decisions to the government, authorities, religion, teachers & families, peers etc. Connect to the universal consciousness, do not be swayed & led by your senses & conditioned minds, go beyond have control over YOUR self, use conscious awareness, have NO JUDGEMENT, practice neutral thoughts about others, return to within & you will be surprised at what happens as a result.
        We are not sheep.

On the otherside of the world, two suicide bombers killed a CEO of one of the largest cement factory in Indonesia, he was a New Zealander and eight other victims. Also those two blasts injured many executives from oil, gas, mining companies and some hotels employees.

The organization responsible for these attacks in Indonesia has been attached to people who admit being Muslims….. But they are not submitters, of course. Astaghfir ulLaah………..

    PEACE !!

    Are these terrorists?

If they are the children of Hamaas, then yes they are terrorists. As long as Hammas fosters terror as the end to its means, and continues to use thier youth as fodder for the Israeli army, then they are as culpable as the masked “martyrs” that reek havoc on their own populace.

Mike P I haven’t seen someone more ignorant of the facts then you have shown by your ridiculous and hate filled comment. Attempt to be just.
Sderot was a Palestinian village not an Israeli village. YES YOU IDIOT THEY ARE BEING PERSECUTED! Tell me the why did the UN accuse Israel of war crimes. A state accused of war crimes is on the loose but NOOOO you hve to listen to foxnews and go with their preposterous claims.

If I crammed 1.5 million of your nation in a tiny strip of land with no access to food, water electricity and then suffocate them I would see how you would feel. And to add insult to injury I would also say “you are a terrorist because you are fighting back”.
So stop being a right wing nutjob and get your facts straight.

i understand wholeheartedly the pain and strife that all of you must feel, and know that i myself share in the pain at the loss of innocent life. In no way do i defend the killings of innocent people. however if somebody could please explain something to me. when members of hamas are launching rockets onto israeli civilian’s homes isn’t it the job of a government to protect it’s people? wouldn’t the palestinian government do the same thing if the israelis were constantly launching rockets into their territory. yes i will admit that israel should have taken more steps to avoid the loss of civilian life, but as we all know in war that’s not always possible. Just look at every war fought within the last 150 years. This does nothing to detract from the heartache felt for each loss. and again in no way am i trying to defend the loss of those children. every innocent lost is a tragedy. but i digress No govt wants to kill innocent people. In the end it turns out to be an incredible amount of trouble. both sides of this thousand year old conflict need to wake up at some point and realize that all of this death will never make anything right. every innocent person killed will only make scores of angered people who are more willing to commit attrocities aimed at vengence.nobody wins….and nobody ever will…why do children from any side have to die?

e, who is the transgressor here? Perhaps it would be more clear if you knew that Sderot was a Palestinian village that was occupied by the Zionist extremists. Innocent people kicked out of there homes and where? They were forced to leave and locked in Gaza with nothing coming in or going out. If I came and kicked you out of your house and locked you in the dumpster you would have every right to be angry and upset and your reaction would be far more worse if the government(which happens to be the international community specifically USA) did nothing to help you. Why do innocent people have to die because of the blunder committed by Zionists? If Muslims are united against this extremist ideology and fighting against the atrocities that are being committed against them then what is the problem? Wouldn’t you have done the same thing?

i have read many of ur statements on here and i agree with many and disagree with many. i am american, and yet i do not see the right of us taking the lives of small children, that yet have had the chance to choose there religion,i have talked and seen many islamic people that have chosen the christian way over the worship of alla. just as i have seen many turn from christianity and worship alla. these babies are not just in the wrong place at the wrong time, many have no other place to go. yet i do see where us as americans have taken this into our own hands to go after u alls country after THEY came to american and started this whole war. we lost many loved ones on 911, just as we are losing many in this war..and many innocent on ur side are being lost cause of the terrorist attacks. i do believe there are many that follow the teachings of alla and think that we are infadals or whatever, yet we think that u all are. this is a war that wont be won easily, so many are goin to keep dying for unexplained reasons. if u all would just pick osama out and let him be tried for what he did to our country more then likely this would all end. this is a war or religion, and noone really knows what is the truth, one day our time will come when the creator will come to collect his people and when that day comes we will see who he is, til then we should let our religions be what they are, and instead of killing eachother off, keep teaching love and harmony and the well being of man, and not hate, war and killing. if we are doin tht then in both cases we are leting the evil win over us, and not the creator

“please not show us these pictures”

Well, nice you want to go live oblivious to the fact that these poor people are murdered, but guess what, it goes on and on and you need to face it, you’re just lucky you’re not on the end of a gun!

I have lived a privileged life, born american, and sheltered, luck of the draw, but I’m not going to be blind to such atrocities, in fact, because I was lucky, I need to have more of a comittment to human rights and stand up for those who are not able!!

Unite, and demand that Palestine be freed!

Good (caring) hearts are more needed than words. humor of any sort is not necessary here. only care and compassion. this is sad. It’s terrible. Oh Allah Please Help Muslims and Protect the innocent. Oh Allah please Justly reward the evil doers who did this injustice. Fi Aman Allah muslims and mumins. Amin.

Excellent work to the website! I’d recommend to:
    – Keep the old background on this site as it gave the MM look.
    – Better transition the header background into the search bar.
    – Change the Favicon to MM
    – Have a smaller boxed slider at the top so it will be less work in the long run but can still be aesthetically pleasing.
    – Install a link checker plugin as many of the links (esp. pdfs) that I have clicked on the site are not working.

I hope I’m in the right place, so that I may say that Heba did magnificently in her debate with a westernized Muslimah by the first name of Mona (the debate was moderated by Elliot Spitzer, and recorded on YouTube.com.) What Heba said made pure sense.

I intend to say the Shahadah soon (I used to be an American Christian.) Once I do, Inshalllah that I can meet many sisters and brothers who are like Heba.
