Muslim McCain Fans Confront Islamophobic McCain Supporters

Published

Interesting video courtesy of Huffington Post. You can digg the Huffington story by clicking here.

obama-for-chnage.jpgThis provides evidence of how difficult it is to make intolerant remarks in the face of people (towards whom the comments are directed to). Notice how the bigot, distributing stickers with Islamic and Nazi symbols interlaced, becomes completely speechless when confronted by people who question his motivations… you can see the embarrassment on his face, an embarrassment he knows will be seen by thousands and thousands of people.

This also provides evidence that it doesn’t take an army to speak the truth and turn the tide… it takes just one or two or a few brave individuals to stand up to bigotry, as shown in the video. So, next time you hear or see Islamophobia, don’t be afraid to ask “why are you doing this sir/ma’am?”.

One final “controversial” comment (what’s an Amad post without controversy?? :) )So, I actually see some positives (a very narrow silver lining) in having Muslims for McCain… at least there is someone to stand up against bigotry :)

Ugh, now on this part I don’t know if there is good.

    McCain Muslim delegates?
    McCain Muslim supporters?

    ugh…

Maybe they are focusing on social issues like abortion/gay marriage and not wanting to bomb Pakistan. I don’t know…

Inshallah, our new Associate, Nadim is trying to put together an online debate on POLICIES (not emotion) between politically-savy Muslim leaders (one supporting McCain, one Obama). Thoughts on such a debate?

Or supporting McCain won’t lighten their wallets.

Sometimes the difference between Muslims and non-Muslims for Bush or McCain aren’t entirely that different.

Pfft, I would rather give my entire paycheck to the US government then support the killing of Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and possibly Iran in the future!

Innalhamdolillah. bismillah. (the mysterious) S (hmmm… Socialist?) and the people in the video are right. The Hammer and Sickle is a Communist symbol, not a Nazi one. The Nazis stole their symbol from the Hindus. Between the letter S, the Crescent-Star, Hammer and Sickle, and allusion to the Hindu symbol stolen by the Nazis — this article does a lot to demonstrate the power and weakness of symbols…

maybe the Muslims for McCains should all ride motorcycles and travel around the country showing up at McCain rallies to defend him from the crazy-xenophobes ho make up a huge percentage of his supporters. Or maybe the crazy xenophobes will lose all sense of restraint and start actively driving away Muslim McCainsters because their loyalty is a priori suspect.

With Muslims on their side, Republicans will have a harder time being hateful towards Muslims… I think.

One interesting thing I know though is a friend of mine decided to get involved in local politics in his town–and there were already some Muslims in the Democratic party so he decided to get involved in the Republican party. He ended up being friends with the people on the city council and the mayor until he got a job on the city council (thanks to the Republicans he was friends with!) He was actually able to be maybe more effective there than with the Democrats, just by networking and being nice to them.

I thought that was interesting when he told me.

    @Amy

The Republican bloc is varied to an extent. Though they have the same values as we do in regards to social issues (abortion, same-sex marriage, faith, family values, etc) their stances on Muslims in general reek of xenophobia, racism, intolerance, white-supremacy and plain old bigotry. It is a camp Muslims should avoid.

I have no doubt in my mind that McCain does not let his true feelings about Muslims out. IF he had a good view of us then he would have told that women who claimed Obama was an Arab that there is nothing wrong with being an Arab. Indeed the opinions of the people he attracts speak volumes of the type of campaign McCain is running. And essentially shows us the kind of man he really is.

The arch-neocon and Israeli fifth-columnist Daniel Pipes is trying to provide some pseudo-academic veneer to the Obama-is-a-Muslim canard, an angle he has been trying to push for some time now. Essentially he is still going on about the Obama-attended-a-madrassa item and trying to link him with, gasp, CAIR and Louis Farrakhan:

That Obama’s biography touches so frequently on such unsavory organizations as CAIR and the Nation of Islam should give pause. How many of politicians have a single tie to either group, much less seven of them? John McCain charitably calls Obama “a person you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States,” but Obama’s multiple links to anti-Americans and subversives mean he would fail the standard security clearance process for Federal employees.

Islamic aggression represents America’s strategic enemy; Obama’s many insalubrious connections raise grave doubts about his fitness to serve as America’s commander-in-chief.

What difference is there between the claims made by Pipes and those made by the “Obama is an Arab” crowd? I would note that while the xenophobic rabble found at the McCain rallies is just that: rabble, someone like Daniel Pipes is a man with the ear of politicians and policy makers (indeed, if I recall correctly he was an adviser to Benito Guiliani).

Justin Raimondo, one of the few voices of clarity and reason left in this country, has his latest column out entitled “The War Party Embraces Obama“. I hope everyone will take a few minutes to read through it.

Abu Umar, I agree with you that Pipes is much more sophisticated and dangerous than most “regular” people, and I would say even more than televangelists frothing against Islam. Pipes is an organizer and a strategic developer of islamophobia. I mentioned this in my article about Obsession DVDs.

Smearcasting.com did a great job in putting together a list of these strategic islamophobia manufacturers. I think they are the ones we need to focus on defeating, using both the media apparatus and logical, unemotional argumentation.

I saw Daniel Pipes in person a year or two back when his buddy David Horowitz set up “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week”. He is a very smooth and articulate speaker who has a good enough understanding of Islam to know what specific parts he wishes to target. While people like Michelle Malkin and Glenn Beck are just idiotic ranters, Pipes is an academic and a fairly smart one too. As I noted he has the ear of politicians and policy thinkers, whereas someone like Malkin does not.

So it’s not just Bill Ayers, but now the neocons are attacking Obama for his association with “terrorist” (i.e. advocate for Palestinian rights) Rashid Khalidi (not just a “terrorist” angle, but a Arab\Muslim angle as well):

Obama Gets Powell and McCain Gets al-Qaeda:

In the battle for endorsements in the presidential campaign, Barack Obama snared a strong nod from former Secretary of State Colin Powell and John McCain received an equally strong recommendation from al-Qaeda.

Al-Qaeda? Yes, you heard right, al-Qaeda! This endorsement indicates what has long been known: al-Qaeda is fairly sophisticated politically. And this doesn’t mean McCain is the more accomplished candidate – in fact, apparently the group believes he is the more gullible of the two men.
