Introducing New Writers (Irum Sarfaraz & Saqib); Around The Blogosphere…
We are delighted to announce that Sister Irum Sarfaraz will be joining our staff as a “Specialist”:
Irum Sarfaraz is a freelance writer with over 250 published articles and Op-eds in American and Pakistani newspapers and magazines on current political, social and religious issues. She has authored ‘An Unholy Godliness: Reflections on Man‘, and edited ‘The Embattled Innocence‘ by Suleman Ahmer, a must-read collection of stories of a Muslim relief worker in Bosnia. Her work has appeared in The Daily Dawn and News International, Pakistan’s leading news dailies. In the US, her Op-eds have appeared in all seven editions of the Alameda County Newspaper Group and the Contra Costa Times in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has also been published in other magazines and newspapers such as Pakistan Link, Choronogram, Iqra, etc.
Also joining MM as an “Associate Writer”, as many of you may have already noticed, is “SaqibSaab”, whose bio is posted here. Please join us in welcoming this fabulous new blood to MM!
Around the blogosphere we go:
- A new blog “Muslim Thought” and a thought-provoking series: Why Do We Need a Unique American Muslim Culture? Part 1, 2, 3
- ‘Prince Among Slaves’ Documentary Premiere in DC on December 1. You should definitely go if you are in the area. More on Tariq’s blog.
- A Sick Aroma: The Modernist Witch Trials and The Great Reformers: Part One (draft) at Imam Suhaib’s blog. The title is interesting enough for you to check it out!
- An interesting analysis on something you are hearing quite in the mainstream media these days that Pakistan is like the pre-revolution Iran. Altaf argues that Pakistan (2007) is NOT Iran (1979)
- Abul-Hussein presents some Brief Notes On The Fundamentals Of Islamic Revival
- This isn’t part of the blogosphere, but nonetheless worthy of your attention - a new lecture by Navaid Aziz on Glimpses of Romance in the Seerah. Irresistable, I know:

let me be the first on on the blog to welcome Sister Irum and Saqib to the MM team… may Allah make both of you an asset to MM and a source of continuing benefit to the Ummah!
“Please join us in welcoming this fabulous new blood to MM!”
Haha, that makes us sound like vampires!
Show ‘em how we roll in chai-town SockEm420.
