Poetic Treat!
Something from The Madrasah… one of our younger sisters (we'll call her S.) wrote this poem:
Religiously and Vertically
I feel the influence
of this religion called Islam
Muslimah is what I am
Named.
Some say it's a bad thing, but
I know it isn't
I embrace the Muslim veins that run through me; without it I wouldn't have my modesty
Islam is one, it's the religion I love
One by one I breathe in
I am one; one Ummah; one religion and it's called
ISLAM
(Leave comments, because she'll be reading them! :) Should we throw in an 'Islamic art' category?)

P.S. Sorry to hijack your post… I had throw in this plug for little Reem, who has posted her first Arabic poem here (it is still a work in progress here but she put a transliteration and a translation). -Dad
P.P.S. If anyone else has some related poetry that they've been dying to share with the world (and even if you aren't much of a sharer!) please do leave them here for our reading pleasure! :) -Mouse
