@ Jim Millen

Believe it or not, I intend to write a topic on this (I mean on sin and sinners and how the Koran deals with this). But unfortunately, I'm still struggling with another topic right now, as you can see at the link above. Hopefully, this dreamt-of topic will be on my blog some time in Spring. I cannot answer such a question in a few words. I have to give a very detailed answer with lots of Koranic quotations. Good luck to you.

Jim, You are absolutely right, if one converts, all his past sins are forgiven including homosexual experiences. In fact read this post by the same speaker in this video here on Forgiveness. Read Amad's comments, in which he directly talks about homosexuality.

So, yes, if you don't intend to remain gay, and even if you falter later, everyone sins... the main thing is to realize this sin and ask for forgiveness. So, don't let this one issue become a barrier. Humans all have different weaknesses, some men may have weaknesses for women (besides their wife), etc. The trial and test is for each of us to save ourselves from the weakness.

Jim, Allah is calling you to him... out of the millions of blogs and websites, you find yourself on a blog surrounded by Muslims. It is a sign only from Allah for you. Don't let the opportunity wither away.

You also have received a reply by email and can continue to correspond privately.

Thanks.

Appreciate your video. I intend to convert to the Islamc faith.

As a person (an Amerian) whom has experienced gay contacts, it is my belief that "one is forgiven for past sins when one converts to Islam."

Has Islam become so blind that it does not accommodate those of us whom cannot choose our sexual orientation? Although I have abandoned the "gay" life, I wish to convert to Islam. It is my understanding that once one converts to Islam, one's "past sins are forgiven and is born again as a Muslim".

"Gay" is NOT a matter of CHOICE. One is born gay. Medical and scientific evidence supports this.

However, one can choose to lead a pious life, renounce homosexuality and choose to follow the teachings of the Qu'ran., which I choose to do.

HOW does one struggle with this issue, when one chooses to choose Islam?

Your guidance is appreciated.

Out of 1,000 prohibitions against Islam, I AGREE with 999. Except the prohibtion against being gay. I do NOT intent to "remain" gay, but wish to be forgiven for my past encounters, and will pray to Allah

[...] Since I just gave you link to notes for a lecture by Sheikh Yasir Qadhi, let me inform you that he has discussed the issue of Qur’an translation throughly in one of his books, which I recommend. And here’s a video lecture on a somewhat relevant theme: Debunking the Male Bias Myth.
